Iceland Culture Preview: Iceland’s Open-Minded Approach to Sex Education (LISTEN)

We’re heading to Iceland Airwaves 2017 to review the festival and report on Icelandic cultural stories, beginning October 29th. Tune in to WCRX-FM 88.1 live in Chicago or via livestream TOMORROW at 1 p.m. CT and the rebroadcast on Sunday, October 29th at 5 p.m. CT for our preview show before we depart and follow our journey on our class blog once we’re there.

The topic of sex is complicated, especially in the United States. With the current debate on birth control and the conflicting requirements for sexual education, sex is becoming overwhelmingly controversial and problematic. Trump has recently rolled back the mandate on birth control coverage and sex Ed is only required in 24 states. Meanwhile, Iceland’s sex culture is more casual and laid-back. Hear an interview with Icelandic Sexologist and Sex  Therapist, Aslaug Kristjansdottir and Icelandic Sexologist and Sex Education expert, Sigga Dogg  below.
