Iceland Airwaves Daily Blog: Golden Circle Tour

Today our group ventured outside of Reykjavík and spent some quality time with nature. As we rode through the Icelandic countryside in-between stops at the Þingvellir National Park, the Haukadalur geothermal area and the Gullfoss, or Golden Falls waterfall, it dawned on me why so many Icelanders believe in elves. The fields of Iceland are magical and the small mounds of earth and scattered boulders really do look like the perfect elvish neighborhood. Despite the ever-present Icelandic rain that I’ve almost grown to love, the seven of us made our way around this country’s beautiful Golden Circle.

Our first stop was the Þingvellir National Park. Here we saw running rivers and beautiful valleys.

Our second stop on the Golden Circle Tour was the Haukadalur geothermal area. This area was full of geysers and beautiful hills, as well as a really cute gift shop!
