We leave tomorrow for Iceland Airwaves to cover the festival and cultural stories! Follow our adventures live beginning Nov. 4 right here on our blog and our main class page where we’ll be reviewing shows each night, producing audio stories and more. Check out a story from our preview show, which aired on WCRX.
The genre of punk knows no international bounds. In the U.S we have bands like The Misfits, Anti-Flag, Social Distortion, The Ramones and more. The Sex Pistols and The Clash hail from the UK. Iceland has Purrkur Pillnikk, Kukl, and Æla. Æla is a more recent addition to the punk scene in Iceland. Hailing from Keflavik, a small fishing town 30 minutes from country’s capital of Reykjavík, the band has since made its long awaited come back after nine long years. Vettlingatök makes the bands second album in their discography. Listen in as Æla’s frontman, Halli Valli explains more.
