Iceland Airwaves presents people with a variety of unique bands and artists. This year they have more than 200 artists in the lineup. If you’re looking for your fill of a “minimal Sci-Fi” sound look no further than Hekla. Self-described as “a little bit horrible,” the electronic experimental indie pop artist takes listeners by storm. The Spanish Icelandic musician’s EP, Hekla EP #1, carries an eerie sound. She is known for her use of the theremin. The raspy tones she creates with the instrument, layered on top of her vocals creates a spooky atmosphere, giving listeners the feeling of an impending sense of change. She performs at Iceland Airwaves on November 4th at Tjarnarbíó at 9:40.
